SlutWalk 2014 poster:
Slutwalk Melbourne is happening again in 2014! The 2014 march will be held on Saturday, September 6 outside the State Library. We will march to stand against victim blaming and slut-shaming. Commencing from 12:00pm outside the State Library, our march will continue to be a short one, down Swanston St and finishing at Federation Square. As we remind supporters every year, THERE IS NO DRESS CODE.
Some of our confirmed speakers are:
– Leni, representing Vixen
– Fury, a Melbourne-based spoken word performer
– Simone Flanagan, representing Hollaback! Melbourne
– Karen Pickering (MC)
Other event details: We are including a seated section at the front of the rally outside the State Library for those with mobility issues. We will also have special volunteers to offer assistance to anyone struggling with triggering content of speeches.
We welcome all supporters of SlutWalk to march under their own banners to represent groups, organisations or associations. Every year we welcome families, unions, charities, businesses, religious groups, political parties, NFPs and any other body who wants to stand with us, to march and show their support for survivors.
SlutWalk is an inclusive event that unapologetically puts survivors first. But whatever your gender identification, age, colour, class, relationship status, sexuality, disability, or other aspect of your identity, you are warmly invited to join us in condemning victim-blaming and slut-shaming of any kind.
All hate speech, victim-blaming and slut-shaming will be deleted from this page and any associated with SlutWalk Melbourne. If you do it twice, you’ll be blocked from the page and reported to Facebook. If you are unsure what these concepts mean, please refer to the FAQ of slutwalkmelbourne.com.au or other resources.
If you need to access support right now you can call the Centre Against Sexual Assault (CASA) on the after hours Sexual Assault Crisis Line (SACL) 1800 806 292 or you can email SACL at email@example.com
SLUTWALK: IT’S A CONTROVERSIAL NAME, NOT A CONTROVERSIAL MESSAGE.
